Dropbox Integration: Connecting Your Company Account

Dropbox Integration links one company Dropbox account to your Kudurru Stone account. Once connected, individual projects can be tied to Dropbox folders so your team can browse and share files without leaving Kudurru Stone. This article covers the company-level setup done on the Settings page; linking an individual project is covered separately.

Overview

The connection is made once, at the company level, by an administrator. Everyone who works in your projects shares this single connection — individual users do not connect their own Dropbox accounts. After the account is connected, you can optionally confine all project linking to one parent folder so users stay within a predictable area of your Dropbox.  Example would be that you have an Admin folder and a Projects folder within your root dropbox.  Through your company settings you can have projects only access the Projects root folder.

Connection fields

The Dropbox Integration page shows the current state of your company connection.

Field Notes
Connected account Email address of the Dropbox account that is connected.
Connected on Date and time the account was connected.
Projects parent folder Optional. A single folder that all project linking is confined to. When set, managers only browse and link inside it. When unset, they can browse the whole account.

How to connect Dropbox

  1. Open the Settings menu (gear icon, top right) and choose Dropbox Integration.
  2. Select Connect Dropbox.
  3. You are redirected to Dropbox to sign in and authorize Kudurru Stone. Sign in with the company account you want to use for all projects.
  4. After you approve access, Dropbox returns you to the settings page, which now shows the connected account email and the connection date.

Connect the account you intend to use company-wide. Because the whole company shares this one connection, signing in with a personal account will expose that personal account's folders to project linking.

How to set a Projects parent folder

Setting a parent folder is optional but recommended. It scopes all project linking to one area of your Dropbox so managers cannot accidentally browse or link unrelated folders.

  1. On the Dropbox Integration page, under Projects parent folder, select Choose folder.
  2. Browse your Dropbox account in the folder picker. Open folders to drill in, or create a new folder.
  3. Select the folder you want, then confirm it.
  4. The chosen path appears next to Current. From then on, project folder browsing is limited to inside that folder.

How to change or clear the parent folder

To change the parent folder, select Choose folder again and pick a different one. To remove the restriction entirely, select Clear; project linking will again browse your whole Dropbox account.

Clearing or changing the parent folder does not affect projects that are already linked — it only changes where future linking can browse.

How to disconnect Dropbox

To disconnect the company account, return to the Dropbox Integration settings page and select Disconnect Dropbox. You are asked to confirm.

Disconnecting keeps every existing project folder link, but files will not load on any project until you reconnect. This is reversible — reconnect the same account and your project files load again.

Deletion and safety guards

Kudurru Stone never destroys your Dropbox content through these settings:

  • Disconnecting the company account keeps all existing project links; reconnecting restores file access.
  • Clearing or changing the Projects parent folder does not change projects that are already linked.
  • No action on this page deletes folders or files from Dropbox.

Tips

  • Decide on a single company Dropbox account before connecting, and authorize with that same account — the whole company shares one connection.
  • Set a Projects parent folder so managers link projects inside a tidy, predictable area rather than your entire Dropbox.
  • If you must switch accounts, disconnect first, then connect the new account; existing project links remain and reload once a valid account is connected.
  • Only administrators should connect, disconnect, or change the parent folder, since these settings affect every project.
