Enabling and Using the Full Line Description Editor

By default, quote line item descriptions are plain text. The Full Line Editor upgrades each line item description to a rich text editor, letting you apply bold, italic, bullet lists, numbered lists, and font sizing directly in the line item. Formatted descriptions carry through to the printed quote PDF.

Enabling this feature is a two-step process: an admin turns it on at the company level first, then a user activates it on each individual quote that needs it.

Step 1: Enable at the Company Level (Admin)

Navigate to Company → Company Administration.

Find the Full Quote Line Editor checkbox and check it. Save the page. This tells Kudurru Stone that your account is permitted to use the rich text editor on quotes.

This setting does not automatically enable the editor on all quotes — it simply makes the feature available. Each quote still needs to be individually activated in Step 2.

Step 2: Enable the Editor on a Quote

Open the quote and go to the Edit page. Near the line items section, you will see an Enable Full Line Editor button.

Click the button. Kudurru Stone will ask you to confirm before proceeding. Click OK.

The page reloads. The button now reads "Full Line Editor Enabled" and is grayed out — this confirms the editor is active for this quote. The change is permanent for this quote; the editor cannot be disabled once enabled.

If the button is not visible: The company-level setting has not been enabled yet. Complete Step 1 first. The page will show a message directing you to Company Administration if the account setting is off.

Step 3: Using the Editor on a Line Item

Once the full editor is enabled on a quote, each line item's description area changes. Instead of a plain text box, you will see the current description text and a Full Editor button next to it.

Click Full Editor on any line item. A modal opens with the rich text editor loaded with the current description content.

Available formatting:

  • Bold, italic, underline
  • Bulleted lists and numbered lists
  • Font size (range from 9pt to 28pt)

Type and format your description as needed. Click Save when done. The modal closes, the line items refresh, and your formatted description appears in the line item row.

Repeat for each line item that needs formatted text. Each line item is edited independently.

How It Appears on the Quote PDF

Formatted descriptions render in the quote PDF exactly as formatted in the editor — bold text, bullet points, numbered steps, and font sizing are all preserved. This makes the full editor especially useful for line items with multi-step scopes, itemized breakdowns, or any description where structure helps the client read the content.

Tips

  • Enable the full editor on a quote before building out the line items, rather than after. Once enabled, the description field switches to display-only with a button — it is easier to work in the editor from the start than to convert plain text entries after the fact.
  • The editor supports a maximum of 8,000 characters per line item description. This is generous, but very long formatted descriptions can crowd the PDF layout — check a print preview after formatting.
  • Bullet lists are well-suited to scope-of-work descriptions. Numbered lists work well for phased work where sequence matters.
  • The company-level setting only needs to be enabled once. After that, any user can activate the editor on any quote — the Step 1 admin task does not need to be repeated.
