Manage your Client Types
Client Types describe the category of business or individual a client represents. For example, Home Owner, Builder, Realtor, Title Company, or General Contractor. The type appears on the client record and lets you filter, segment, and report across your client list by the kind of work they represent.
Managing Client Types
Navigate to Settings → Client Types to view, add, edit, or remove types.
Each client type has one field:
- Description (required) — The label that appears in the Client Type dropdown on client records.
Model your types around how you acquire or serve clients, not internal jargon. Labels like Home Owner and Builder are immediately understood by anyone on your team — abbreviations or internal codes are not.
Use types alongside Relationships. Type answers what kind of client is this? while Relationship answers where are they in our pipeline? Together they give you powerful filtering — for example, all Builders who are currently Active Clients.
Avoid over-segmenting. If you find yourself creating a type for every slight variation, consolidate. A smaller, consistent list is easier to filter and report on than a long, inconsistent one.
Adding a New Type
- Go to Settings → Client Types.
- Click Create New.
- Enter a Description.
- Click Save.
The new type is immediately available in the Client Type dropdown when adding or editing a client.
Editing a Type
- Click the Edit link next to the type.
- Update the description.
- Click Save.
The updated label reflects on all client records currently using it.
Deleting a Type
Click Delete next to a type and confirm on the following page. If the type is assigned to any client records, Kudurru Stone will block the deletion and display a warning. Reassign those clients to a different type first, then delete.
