Quote PDF Layouts

The quote PDF is what your clients receive — a formatted document generated from your quote data. Kudurru Stone can produce PDFs of your Quotes, Invoices and Projects, giving you control over branding, structure, and which information is shown. You can make layout changes yourself using the built-in designer, or submit a request to the Kudurru Stone team for more complex customizations.

What the Layout Controls

Your quote PDF layout determines:

  • Branding — your logo, company name, and color scheme
  • Header and footer content — contact information, taglines, page numbering
  • Which sections appear — line item descriptions, quantities, pricing columns, subtotals, tax, retainer, discount
  • Column arrangement — which line item fields are visible and in what order
  • Terms and conditions block — whether a terms section is included and its default text
  • Notes and signature fields — optional blocks at the bottom of the document

The data itself (line item titles, prices, totals) always comes from the quote record. The layout controls how that data is presented.

Accessing the Layout Selector

On any quote, click the Print to PDF dropdown button. You will see two options:

  • Quick print — click any named layout in the list to generate a PDF immediately using that layout.
  • E-Signature / Advanced Setup — opens the Report Selector modal, where you can choose a layout, manage custom layouts, and set additional options like saving the PDF to the quote's files or sending it for e-signature.

All layout management happens through the Report Selector.

Customizing a Layout Yourself

The Report Selector modal has three buttons for managing layouts:

Copy and Edit
The recommended starting point for creating a new custom layout. Kudurru Stone copies the default template (or any existing layout you have selected in the dropdown) and asks you to give it a name. Once named, the visual designer opens with your copy. Make your changes and save. Your new layout will appear in the Print to PDF dropdown going forward.

Edit Selected
Opens the designer for an existing custom layout you have already created. Select the layout from the dropdown first, then click Edit Selected.

The designer is a visual report builder with live quote data loaded so you can see how your changes look against real content. When you are done, use the Save button. A preview opens in a new window so you can review the output before using it on quotes.

Requesting a Layout Change

For more involved customizations — logo replacement, structural changes, brand color updates, adding a terms block — you can submit a request to the Kudurru Stone team and we will handle it for you.

Submit a Quote PDF Layout Request

When submitting, the more specific you can be, the faster we can turn it around. If you have a PDF example of how you'd like your quote to look, attach it to the request.

Tips

  • Always use Copy and Edit rather than editing the default layout directly. This preserves the original as a fallback.
  • If you maintain multiple layout variants — for example, a detailed version and a summary-only version — give them clear names in the designer so they are easy to identify in the Print to PDF dropdown.
  • If your logo appears blurry or stretched, submit a higher-resolution version (PNG on a transparent or white background works best).
  • Changes to a layout apply to all quotes generated after the change. Existing quote PDFs are not retroactively updated unless you regenerate them.
