Quote Tasks on Quote Line Items
This article describes quote tasks and how to use them.
Tasks on a quote can be very helpful for creating accurate estimations of costs so that your quotes can more accurately reflect the anticipated costs and so that you have a record of what those costs are built from.
This article assumes you are already familiar with creating and managing your quotes.
Quote Tasks can be associated to a specific Quote Line Item or independent of a Quote Line Item.
The first step in adding a quote task to a quote is to find your quote. Once you have found your quote go to the quote line items section and there you will see a button for "Manage Tasks". Click that button as shown on the screenshot below.
This will open the Quote Task Manager and allow you to associate a Task to this Quote and Quote Line Item. Now you can click on the New Task button that will allow you to add a new Task to this Quote Line Item.

This allows you to select a specific Task, enter any additional defining information and the budget hours and rate. Once saved you will see something similar to this screenshot.
Now you can see these three tasks and the total budgeted amount. You can then enter the final price for the Quote Line Item based on this task build out.
Once this Quote becomes a Project you have the option of generating Project Tasks from these Quote Tasks. If you do this, links will be maintained from the Quote Task to the Project Task so you know what task belongs to what Quote Line.
By associating your Quote Tasks to Quote Line Items it allows you to have multiple Field Work tasks for one project but knowing what task belongs to what type of work. Such as House Stakeout - Field Work vs House Final Survey - Field Work. It allows you to keep like tasks separated.
Now when you Schedule the Project Task or otherwise need to manage that Project Task you can see what part of the project that Tasks belongs to.
